Here is the wool applique, so far, on my Feb. Small Quilts Club project! In class we made the quilt base, and then I Challenged the ladies to add their own "thing" to the alternate plain rows between the stars! This is what I'm adding! These pictures are without having stitching the wool down, so I'll post another when I'm all done! Hope you like it!

Love it Jeni! Thanks for sharing - good inspiration for us to "think outside the box!"
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Did you cut the vine curvy? Or just a straight piece to make the curves? I love washing my quilts when they're done, but I'm hesitant to add the wool applique cuz I'm afraid the dye will bleed.....
ReplyDeleteThanks Kelli, Sue and Gayle!!! And, Gayle, if you want to wash it after using wool, you can check the left over scraps of wool with some scraps of your fabric, by washing them together in the sink and a little soap! See if they bleed! Or better yet, do it before you applique, then if it does bleed you can set the color yourself with some vinegar before using it! These days, I would think any hand-dyed wool you by from a store will be color fast! But if you aren't sure, check it first! I simmer mine in vinegar for a half an hour!

Micki, Thank you very much!!! And Gayle, I forgot to let you know about the curvy vines! I cut them straight on the bias, so I could make them curve really well, pin them in place, then dab a little fabric glue under them! Thanks for asking!
