Fooling around!

A lady asked me to teach her to make a Pineapple quilt, so I was practicing making them using various methods, and found the one I like best! Here is the picture of my block! I feel a quilt coming on!!!!! And the little journal cover was our Wool Club project for this past Tuesday! Fun fun!
Have a great evening!

  1. So, what IS your favorite method? I've been wanting to make a pineapple quilt, so could use a recommendation of which way to go about it.

    1. Hi Kay, I liked the "possibilities" pineapple ruler, for the fact that you can make a 12" block. The ruler by Gyleen Fitzgerald is wonderful, as far as easy to read and use, but you can only go as big as a 8" block. They are the same method, just different rulers. Now, Creative Grids has a new pineapple ruler, that I think looks really easy to use, and you can go up to a 10" block! Same method, and if you are okay with just a 10" block, it looks to be the one to go with! The "Square in a Square"method and ruler work exactly the same as these other methods also! Was that confusing? feel free to call me 304-375-9665. Jeni

    2. Thanks, Jeni! I got a Possibilities pineapple ruler this summer (along with Smith&Milligan's book Pineapple Passion), but haven't used it yet. Great to know I've got a good one for my first pineapple attempt. I've found other helpful tips and videos online for using this ruler, so I'm all set. Thanks again!

    1. Thanks Debbie, I did a reply above about the rulers! Feel free to call me. I'll be at the shop today! I'm ordering the Creative Grids ruler today to try out. Same method, just nice easy to read ruler. I found only one other method, but thought it was too many steps and hard to chain piece. I want to chain piece and get that quilt done! Creative Grids as a YouTube tutorial for the ruler! Sold me. only goes up to 10" block, but it still gives you that great traditional pineapple look! Jen

  4. Oh my gosh! You are a brave woman!! I helped make one of those quilts several years ago (I didn't use a special ruler so it was tedious, torture for sure!) Actually.....I don't know if a ruler would make it more fun for me.....could I slap an applique in there? LOL
